Religious Heritage in Cabezabellosa

A spiritual environment

Discover the religious legacy in every stone and every altarpiece

The Church of St. Lawrence the Martyr, the patron saint of the town, dates back to the 17th century. Located in the southern part of the town, it’s known for the stone tombs embedded in the ground.

The 18th-century hermitage of Our Lady of the Castle, on Búho Hill, is named after the town’s patron saint. It is less than one kilometre from the centre of Cabezabellosa on foot, so you can leave the car in the underground car park 500 metres away. Inside there is a beautiful altarpiece depicting the Tree of Jesse.

The other two chapels, of St. Anthony and The Martyrs, both Baroque style, are the perfect addition to round off a day filled with culture in this charming Cáceres village.
