With the arrival of autumn and the drop in temperatures, the cranes come to Extremadura to spend the winter. More than 70,000 cranes arrive from Northern Europe and many of them choose the Gabriel y Galán reservoir as the northernmost roost in Extremadura. These beautiful birds choose the shores near the medieval village of Granadilla to roost, with an estimated 2,500 specimens in this region.
