Ruta fácil para practicar BTT por parajes en medio de la naturaleza pasando por Cerezo, Palomero, Marchagaz y Mohedas de Granadilla.

Se trata de 20 kilómetros en los que en los últimos tramos se disfruta de los paisajes aterrazados donde se cultivan los olivos, paisaje característico de estos pueblos.

La ruta parte de Cerezo, pasa por Palomero y asciende hasta Marchagaz atravesando la ladera de la sierra del Canchal, parte de la ruta que puede entrañar más dificultad pues es donde se encuentran las cotas más elevadas de la ruta y finaliza en Mohedas de Granadilla.

An easy mountain biking trail through the countryside, passing through Cerezo, Palomero, Marchagaz and Mohedas de Granadilla.

It is 20 kilometres long and in the final section you’ll see many terraced hillsides where olive trees are grown, a characteristic feature of these villages.

The trail starts in Cerezo, passes through Palomero, climbs up to Marchagaz crossing the slopes of the Sierra del Canchal. This is the most challenging part of the trail as it is the highest elevation we will reach before we get to the end in Mohedas de Granadilla.

This trail connects the towns of Guijo de Granadilla and Oliva de Plasencia, passing through the Roman city of Cáparra.

The trail is marked and signposted all the way (except for the Ahigal Reservoir, where there are no signs). Just continue along the border of the reservoir until you see the BTT-2 markings again, which then continue to the end of the trail.

The trail is simple, with no technical difficulties to speak of.

We start at “The Ring” Sports Innovation Centre. We pass the “Gabriel y Galán” Reservoir road and follow the BTT-2 signs.
We skirt the Ahigal Reservoir and head towards the village of Ahigal. We pass through Ahigal and take a right turn at the intersection onto a dirt bath that runs through olive groves until we reach Guijo de Granadilla, where we’ll make a short stop to photograph the house-museum of the illustrious poet, José María Gabriel y Galán.
We’ll continue on a paved trail and then turn left onto a dirt trail. A few metres ahead we’ll come to a gate, which we’ll open and close behind us. From there, we’ll continue along the trail until it intersects with the initial section of the route, which overlaps with this stretch.
We continue along the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir road back to the starting point: “The Ring” Sports Innovation Centre.

Esta ruta conecta las localidades de Guijo de Granadilla y Oliva de Plasencia, transitando en su recorrido por la Ciudad romana de Cáparra,

Ruta marcada y señalizada en todo el recorrido (salvo por el embalse de Ahigal, donde no se ve señalización). Pero continuamos bordeando dicho embalse hasta encontrar de nuevo las marcas BTT-2 que seguían hasta el final del recorrido.

La ruta es sencilla, sin dificultades técnicas reseñables.

Comenzamos la ruta en el centro de innovación deportiva “el Anillo”. Pasamos por la carretera del embalse “Gabriel y Galán”, y continuamos la señalización de BTT-2. Bordeamos el embalse de Ahigal, y nos dirigimos a dicha población. Atravesamos Ahigal y cogemos un cruce a la derecha que nos conducirá por una pista de tierra entre olivos hasta llegar a Guijo de Granadilla, donde haremos una pequeña parada para fotografiar la casa museo del ilustre poeta: José María Gabriel y Galán. Continuamos de frente por una pista de cemento giramos a la izquierda y continuamos por una pista de tierra, unos metros más adelante nos encontramos con una cancela que abrimos y volvemos a dejar cerrada, para continuar por la carretera hasta enlazar con parte del tramo del inicio de la ruta que es común. Continuamos por la carretera del embalse Gabriel y Galán hasta el punto de inicio de la ruta: el Centro de Innovación Deportiva “el Anillo”.

Ruta en bicicleta de montaña desde “el Anillo” en el embalse de Gabriel y Galán hasta el poblado de Granadilla.
La ruta discurre prácticamente por pistas de tierra bordeando el embalse de Gabriel y Galán, con algunas zonas inundables dependiendo del nivel del embalse. Hay un pequeño puente destruido al final, lo que hace que subamos más arriba donde se puede cruzar sin dificultad. El último tramo antes de llegar a Granadilla va por la carretera que nos lleva hasta el punto final de la ruta, el poblado de Granadilla.

Mountain bike trail from “The Ring” at the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir to the village of Granadilla.
The route runs along a dirt path bordering the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir, and through some flood zones depending on the level of the reservoir. There is a small, uncrossable bridge destroyed at the end, which means you have to climb higher up so you can cross without difficulty. The last stretch before reaching Granadilla runs along the road that takes you to the final stop on the trail, the village of Granadilla.

The trail begins in Palomero and runs along Calle del Lagar, next to the funeral home. It crosses the bridge over the Arroyo del Corchito stream and immediately turns right and continues along a path that starts out as concrete but soon changes to dirt and heads southwest towards El Bronco.
There is a slight elevation gain for the first kilometre, but that gives way to a gentle, almost imperceptible descent until the end. Along the way, always staying on the main path without taking any detours, we’ll see the Sierra de Dios Padre in Villanueva de la Sierra in the distance. Passing through holm oak dehesas and olive groves, we are approaching the final stretch of the journey, leaving behind the paved path to continue through a cattle grid and over the Bronco dehesa, where we are likely to encounter morocha cattle grazing peacefully.
We’ll cross the dehesa and as we exit through another cattle grid, only a few hundred meters will remain before we reach our destination in the village of El Bronco, walking on a path that runs parallel to the EX-205.

El sendero planteado sale de Palomero por la Calle del Lagar, junto al velatorio. Cruza el puente sobre el Arroyo del Corchito para inmediatamente torcer a la derecha y continuar por un camino inicialmente cementado, pero que al poco cambia a tierra y en dirección suroeste enfila hacia El Bronco.
El camino, asciende levemente en su primer kilómetro, para luego continuar con un suave descenso casi imperceptible hasta el final. Durante el recorrido, siempre por el camino principal y sin tomar ningún otro, divisaremos al fondo la Sierra de Dios Padre de Villanueva de la Sierra y entre dehesas de encinas y cultivos de olivares, nos acercaremos entre paredes de piedra al tramo final del recorrido, que deja atrás el encauzado camino para continuar, a través de un paso canadiense, por la dehesa del Bronco, donde seguramente nos encontremos con ganado vacuno de la raza morocha.
Atravesaremos la dehesa y al salir del a misma, por otro paso canadiense, ya nos quedarán escasos centenares de metros para llegar a nuestro fin, en la localidad de El Bronco, a la cual accederemos paralelos a la EX-205.
