Interpretation Centre of the Roman City of Cáparra

A Roman jewel on the Vía de la Plata

Cáparra is an ancient Roman settlement dating from the 1st century BC and in an excellent state of conservation. It was an important Roman city on the ancient Vía de la Plata, a busy trade and communication route that crossed the Iberian Peninsula from south to north.

The Interpretation Centre provides visitors with information about the Cáparra’s history and archaeology: life in the ancient Roman city, its architecture, economy, culture, and its strategic importance as a key stop on the Vía de la Plata.

There are different rooms for visitors to explore, with interactive projections, informational panels, models, and audiovisual displays, all designed to enhance the visitor’s understanding and appreciation of history. The centre also organises guided tours of the archaeological site.

A fascinating place for history and archaeology enthusiasts, as well as for those who simply want to learn more about ancient Roman civilisation and its legacy in Spain.
