WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Have you ever experienced an outdoor Scape Room? We propose you to enjoy it in the Castañar Gallego forest of Hervás, declared as “Protected Landscape” with one of the most important and best preserved chestnut forests in southern Europe.
You will follow a route of between 4 and 9 km inside the forest and you will only be able to go out and come back if you manage to overcome certain tests that you will find in the forest. An ideal activity to discover the environment and observe nature in a fun way and working as a team.
This activity is done without direct accompaniment; however, the hosts of the activity will be in the areas adjacent to the forest and will be available to provide support when necessary until you finish the challenge. Will you be able to escape?

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

In the foothills of Trasierra mountains we find Segura de Toro, the oldest village in the Ambroz Valley, a mountain municipality chiselled by our Vetones ancestors, characterized by their warrior and livestock culture. Segura is located in a mountain range of steep terrain, surrounded by oak trees, counted chestnut trees, woody shrubs and aromatic herbs growing among large granite rocks.
Among such lushness of the forests of Segura de Toro are hidden some centenary grandparents who testify the calm but inexorable passage of time. We encourage you to enter its forests through a circular route of 7.5 km of hiking distance that culminates with the observation of the majestic of Castaños del Temblar, declared singular trees ofExtremadura, some of them are more than 700 years old!
Diversity of flora, forests with closed and open grasslands, wild and domestic fauna, winding rivers and gigantic Pyrenean oaks will observe them closely.
An ideal route to share with family or friends with an expert mountain guide, a beautiful place not to be missed!

You will start a simple 5 km hiking route from the Plaza de Toros of Hervás, a fairy-tale village in the Ambroz Valley. Accompanied by professional monitors you will enter one of the most emblematic forests of the valley, the Castañar Gallego, in which its state of maturity and conservation will allow you to enjoy the nocturnal life that houses, being accompanied by their guardians of the night, the bats.
In the forest of Castañar Gallego, declared a protected landscape, you will learn about the importance of this forest, one of the most important and best preserved in southern Europe. You will discover the quality of the skies; we will learn about the relevance of light pollution for the conservation of our natural environments and you will see the nocturnal fauna.
At the end of the tour, you will recover your strength with a tasting of local products and drinks. With your eyesight already adapted to the night, you will discover the quality of the skies of Hervás enjoying the planets, constellations and the deep sky through the astronomical telescopes and the magnificent explanations of the guide specialized inastronomy. WHAT WILL YOU DO?

La Plata Greenway follows the route of an old railway track that starts in Salamanca through amazing landscapes of the Sierra de Béjar and ends in Plasencia, passing through the beautiful Ambroz Valley.
Although the visit is at your own pace, we propose you a beautiful route in which you will start from Hervás passing through pastures, olive groves, meadows and crops. You will come across one of the great works of this old railroad: the well-known “Puente de Hierro” (Iron Bridge). With the retina full of images, you will continue between country houses until you reach the pasture area. The ascent continues, now with a little more slope until Baños de Montemayor. Its spa, declared of Cultural Interest and with the remains of the ancient Roman baths and the interpretation centre of the Vía de la Plata are two good excuses to stop in this town. The route continues after crossing the road to La Garganta through an area of deciduous forest that covers the foothills of the Sierra de Béjar. Hazelnut, maple, chestnut and oak trees give a very special chromatism.
You will be able to cycle at your own pace and stop at the places that interest you most before returning to the starting point in Hervás. Dare and enjoy magical landscapes alone, with friends or with your family.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The route of the Chorrera and Charcas Verdes is one of the most beautiful to do in the area of the Ambroz Valley.
A short and fun route that combines the lush natural heritage with the history of the town of Hervás. Together with your mountain guide, you will start a 5.5km circular route through the lush oak forest; following the path used for more than 100 years for the maintenance of the canal. You will come across the Arroyo Forero and the Ambroz river that fed water to the old hydraulic power station of Marinejo that provided and still provides electricity to Hervás.
Step by step and admiring the beauty of the landscape, you will reach the waterfall of La Chorrera with more than 15 meters high. After a rest and observation and interpretation of the environment, you will continue your way until you reach the Charcas Verdes, natural pools naturally excavated by water in the hard granite, where you can enjoy its crystalline and purifying waters. A picturesque route known among the locals for its beauty and importance for the village!

On the back of this noble animal, the horse, you will mimic its trot along a circular route of 15 km from the Roman municipality of Aldeanueva del Camino. You will travel to the past, passing through a section of La Plata Greenway and discovering the old railroad station, you will admire chestnut trees, oak groves and cherry tree terraces until you reach Gargantilla, a village with personality that exudes history with the best examples of popular mountain architecture in the whole region.
A stop along the way at the fountain in the Plaza Mayor will become a magical moment to learn how to pamper and water the horses; the care of our equines is essential!
Are you ready to contemplate the chestnut and birch forest of the beautiful village of Gargantilla? To regain your strength, you will enjoy an authentic country snack with local products while you admire and breathe the magic of the pastureland characteristic of the region. The route ends returning to the starting point, refreshed and relaxed.

Dani, expert biologist will accompany you on a beautiful circular nature route around the charming village of Hervás. Through the landscape you will learn about the history of the place and you will observe livestock and forestry landscapes such as chestnut plantations, rivers and streams that run through the valley, and postcard images.
You will take the Ruta de la Plata, and you will enter unique places following the old train track that will guide your steps. From the Vía Verde you will enjoy another unique perspective of the Ambroz Valley admiring a beautiful view of the historic centre of Hervás with the church Santa María de las Aguas Vivas on the horizon, continuing to the great viewpoint of the medium, a spectacle, the Ambroz Valley at your feet!
On the way back along a bridle path you will reach the bridge of the Fuente Chiquita to contemplate how the Ambroz river flows through the foothills of the Jewish quarter.

Included in the Network of Jewish Quarters, it has one of the best-preserved Jewish Quarter in Extremadura. History and astronomy united from the Middle Ages to the present day in a tour that begins with the Star of David and ends visualizing thousands of stars. A relaxed and unhurried walk in the light of the stars discovering the history hidden behind the streets of Hervás.
Get ready for a dreamy sunset, starting a tour of the charming Jewish Quarter of Hervás, to delve into its history and legends. You will discover the most important names in the world of astronomy, such as the Judeo-Spanish astronomer and historian Abraham Zacut.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Would you like to experience a unique day with the family, full of culture and nature? Explore the spectacular landscape of Piedras Labradas on a 4×4 route that will allow you to reach the most hidden corners of the place. You will leave with your guide from the village of Jarilla to learn about its history and the life of its inhabitants. We will set off observing the pastureland and climbing up to the mountain range, with the aim of reaching the Piedras Labradas, a sacred place in the territory and a Vetón settlement in Roman times. Along the way you will contemplate centenary trees, oaks, chestnut trees, cork oaks and incredible views of the plain of Tierras de Granadilla, Portugal and the Sierra de Gata. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, you will visit the village of Granadilla to learn about its peculiar history or you will go into the Centenary Castaños del Temblar of Segura de Toro, and return to Jarilla after having experienced a day of absolute immersion in nature and history in Ambroz Cáparra!
