Molino de “Las Pozas”

A charming little hidden gem in Baños de Montemayor.

Walk the path that leads to the mill. The majestic chestnut and oak trees create a green canopy that filters the sunlight and provides a cool refuge on hot days. Listen to the sound of the water flowing through the gorge, which once powered the mill.

The old wheat mill supplied wheat flour, rye and other cereals to the local community and provided fodder or feed for the animals. The original machinery is still preserved inside the mill in a space that transports us to the past.

“Las Pozas” is an 18th-century flour mill that has been restored and converted into an interpretation centre. Visitors to the centre learn about the significance of mills in the daily lives of the region’s inhabitants and the technology and processes used in grain milling.

The centre has permanent and temporary exhibits showcasing the history of the mills in Baños de Montemayor and the surrounding area. It also provides information about the area’s natural environment and landscapes, as well as the native flora and fauna.
