Travel back in time when you visit the only Tetrapylon Roman arch of its kind in Spain: the Roman Arch of Cáparra. Because of its strategic location it was an eminently commercial city of great importance.

The Roman City of Cáparra is an important archaeological site strategically built on the Vía de la Plata where it passes through Oliva de Plasencia and Guijo de Granadilla, a bustling trade route that connected the Iberian Peninsula from north to south.

It is a well-planned city, with straight, wide streets, a central forum, temples, baths, a theatre, and an amphitheatre, among other public and residential buildings.

Its most iconic structure is the Tetrapylon arch, the only Roman quadrilateral arch in Spain. Standing 13 meters tall, it rises as a haunting reminder of the once-thriving Municipium Flavium Caparense, a vibrant settlement brought to light through ongoing archaeological excavations and currently in excellent condition.

Because it served as the crossroads for the cardo and decumanus (the two main streets in Roman cities), it has been designated a Cultural Heritage Asset.
