El Lobo Visitor Centre

Discover the secrets of the wolf

Step into the world of wolves, learning about their behaviour, habitat, pack dynamics and their relationship with humans.

The Visitor Centre is located in a beautifully restored building that used to be the rectory. Inside, there is an extensive exhibit on wolves and how they profoundly influenced the lives of the people of La Garganta in the past.

The Visitor Centre explains in depth certain aspects related to their feeding habits, the hierarchical structure of the packs and existing species.

The exhibition also addresses the complicated relationship between humans and wolves over the centuries. An example of this are the sharp protective collars that dogs wore to defend against attacks. Or the wolf pens, which were semicircular traps with bait inside and a hinged board that coaxed the wolf inside, which was then unable to get out. One such wolf pen has been restored and can be visited as part of the magnificent SL-CC EL Nevero nature trail through La Garganta.
