The mission of the Vía de la Plata Interpretation Centre, located in Baños de Montemayor, is to inform and educate visitors about the Vía de la Plata, an ancient Roman road that crosses the Iberian Peninsula from the south of Spain to the north. This road was used by the Romans to transport goods, for communications and military manoeuvres.
Visitors can learn about the importance of this road in antiquity and its influence on the development of Extremadura. Guided tours can be arranged with the Centre upon request.
